Families in Jackson Hole are blessed with several strong choices for students. Teton County School District No. 1 is consistently one of the highest performing public school systems in the state. In addition to high standardized test scores, the schools have produced a number of students who received state and national academic honors including Hathaway scholarships, National Merit Scholarships, and Presidential Scholar recognitions. There were even two in the last two years who made perfect scores on their ACTs.
The district opened a new gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified elementary school in 2009. Davey Jackson Elementary School, which houses children in kindergarten through second grade, is also the home to the district's new dual-immersion program where some kindergarten and first graders learn in both English and in Spanish.
In addition to the quality public schools, parents and students have two private options. The Journeys School is part of the Teton Science Schools. The school serves children in kindergarten through 12th grade and offers personalized instruction and mixed-grade classes. The Jackson Hole Community School has experienced great success with its high school students going on to well-recognized colleges and earning big state and national honors. The small class sizes and personal attention contribute to a rigorous curriculum.
