MORE REAL ESTATE NEWSCounty building permits plummeted in July, down in value more than 80 percent from June’s high for the year.
In July, contractors and architects pulled 13 building permits with a total value of $5.33 million, Teton County reported. The value of permits in July was the second smallest for the year.
Only January has seen fewer permits pulled in any month of 2010.
In June, a handful of multimillion dollar home projects drove the spike in value. In July, single-family home permits comprised about 80 percent of the total value.
Just one new single-family home valued at $3.2 million drove up the total value of permits. Three other single-family residences were permitted with values of $500,000, $300,000 and $250,000.
The remaining projects were renovations and additions. No commercial projects were permitted.
In July 2009, the county issued seven permits for new single-family dwellings, three permits for additions and remodels and one permit for a commercial project.
July 2010 permits decreased in value nearly 45 percent compared with the same month in 2009.
Year to date, the county has seen building permits increase about 49 percent, growing from 95 in 2009 to 142 this year; however, values are down about 22 percent.
As of July 2009, permit values totaled $87.85 million. So far this year, they are worth $63.4 million.
Permit activity is published on the county building department’s website twice a month at www.tetonwyo.org.
